Work Experience

2019–present, CNMI Instructor, FUSE Makerspace for CNM Ingenuity, Albuquerque, NM

Developed the course curriculum centered on fused glass applications within the Central New Mexico Community College jewelry lab environment. Delivers developed curriculum content with a mix of both theoretical and practical sessions within short course format. Provides instruction to students who are interested in advancement enhancing their ability and skill set as related to fused glass and metal jewelry applications.


2007–present, Owner of professional glass art studio, Studio Sarah LLC, Albuquerque, NM

Creates glass related fine art work to be sold in a professional gallery setting. Art work incorporates a variety of styles and techniques to produce abstract sculptural pieces. Provides instruction on the topic of glass art and related fields, including kilnworked glass styles and techniques, fused glass jewelry, and a multitude of cold working and finishing techniques. Provides assistance to clients in design and set up of glass art studio facilities. Provides instruction to clients interested in developing a professional, marketable ability and skill set.


2005–2007, Studio Assistant, Emily Brock, Corrales, NM

Assisted an internationally well-known local glass sculptor in the day to day operations of her business. Duties included utilizing a multitude of glass studio techniques to assist in the production of fine art, as well as numerous computer related tasks.  


2002–2007, Glass Sand Etcher/Instructor, Hot Flash Glass, Albuquerque, NM

Ran a professional glass sandblast studio, producing completed glass etched commission work for large scale architectural industry clients (residential and commercial). Hand cut and use of computerized vinyl cutters in order to create original blast resists. Paint and gold leafing glass applications for specialized techniques used in industry for signs and awards. Taught a series of glass etching classes in order to educate students interested in industry standards. Provided retail assistance to clients purchasing glass related products. Offered design consultations to students and fellow artists creating etched and fused glass works. Taught a series of fused glass related technique courses including jewelry adornment to glass shop clients. Advised and assisted with setting up a glass cold shop in order to offer glass finishing techniques to clients.


2001–2002, Studio Assistant, Butch Young, Hot Flash Glass, Albuquerque, NM

Worked with a professional glass etcher in order to run a business offering one of a kind commission work and instruction to students in the trade of etching glass utilizing sandblasting techniques.


1991–2000, Program Associate, TIMS Project, Institute for Mathematics and Science Education (IMSE), University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL

  • 12/94–2/2000 Senior Book Designer/Production Coordinator–Supervised production team to finish K–5 grant work. Design and layout of special projects such as brochures, catalogs, annual reports, posters, flyers and websites. Responsible for installation of computers and software as well as provided trouble shooting and tech support for staff. 
  • 2/92–12/94 Graphic Designer–Continued to work as part of production team. Created new design, icons & elements, templates & page layout specs for curriculum book design.
  • 12/91–2/92 Consultant–Design, layout, typesetting, and desktop publishing for a multiyear National Science Foundation (NSF) project. Worked as part of production team to produce a national K–5 curriculum using Macintosh DTP system.
